Foutas
A seasonal staple.
There are those versatile items one should always keep stocked: add the fouta to this list. Traditionally found in Turkish baths, or Hammams, these towels have long been used in Turkey and North Africa, and have attracted attention worldwide. Made of cotton and linen, foutas are just as absorbent as fluffy terry cloth, but are lighter, dry faster, and are far more multi-purposed: a towel for the beach, a picnic blanket, a chic sarong, a splashy table runner, even a throw to brighten up the home. And when summer picnics and lake-side afternoons pass into cooler autumn days, it becomes a shawl for warmth or an extra layer on the bed. Don’t fret about overuse, foutas simply become softer and more absorbent with wash and wear. The very best of the bunch are stocked at online retailers Fouta Lifestyle, Brook Farm General Store, and Serena and Lily.
