Celebrating 60 years of Marimekko’s Iconic Unikko Pattern in Toronto and Vancouver
The Finnish brand partners with Holt Renfrew to celebrate.
As part of a year-long celebration of the Finnish brand’s signature abstract floral pattern collection, Unikko, Marimekko has partnered with Holt Renfrew for two exclusive pop-up stores and installations.
Unikko, created in 1964 by Maija Isola, was a response to the belief of the founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, that the essence of real flowers couldn’t translate onto fabric. Cementing Marimekko as an iconic print house, Isola created more than 500 pattern designs for the brand, including the Kivet pattern, inspired by nature and her travels in Europe, North Africa, and the U.S.
Until July 31, home goods, ready-to-wear clothing, and accessories are available at the Toronto and Vancouver Holt Renfrew flagship locations. Finnish-inspired treats at Holts Café along with Marimekko cushions and dishware add to the celebration of the playful and timeless design.
