Seaside Glamour Redefined: Marbella Club Adds Loewe to Its Glittering Boutique Lineup
The storied Andalucia resort opens a stylish new shop with vibrant tiles and designer furnishings.
At the entrance of Andalucía’s Marbella Club, on the southern tip of Spain, a stylish new boutique joins the Golden Mile. Washed in white and vivid colourful tiles, the new Loewe boutique furthers the sense of artisanship at Marbella Club.
The legendary beach resort is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Founded in 1954 by Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe, the resort quickly became a destination for glitterati across the world, from Hollywood stars to European nobility. From its location hugging the Mediterranean Coast on the desirable Golden Mile, the hotel continues to be one of Europe’s most sought-after beach getaways, with 114 rooms and suites and 17 unique villas in over 450,000 square feet of grounds. Loewe joins a number of high-end on-site boutiques, like Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
Spread throughout Loewe’s bright 1,200 square feet is a selection of the brand’s women’s line and accessories, including eyewear, shoes, and bags, as well as homewares.
Inside, crisp white walls make the vibrant accents pop. Pale-pink tiles are laid in a herringbone pattern on the floor. Throughout, bolder tiles in emerald and fuchsia frame doorways, display corners, and racks of clothes, each tile a testament to quality craftsmanship. The wood-beamed ceilings add a residential feel, and large slabs of white and green marble create elegant counter surfaces.
Comfortable furniture in the airy space ensures that shoppers are able to take their time—making for shopping at a vacation pace. Many of the furnishings, like George Nakashima’s midcentury modern walnut Conoid cushion chairs, an Isamu Noguchi washi paper and bamboo light sculpture, and Gerrit Thomas Rietveld’s neoplastic Utrecht chairs, are from iconic designers, a continuation of the well-designed interiors of the hotel. Underfoot, the abstract vistas of British textile artist John Allen are brought to life in three rug reproductions.
The boutique is also a gallery. Paintings and linocuts by British artists Winifred Nicholson and Ben Nicholson, who are married, adorn the walls alongside sculptures by famed Italian architect Ugo La Pietra.
Spacious fitting rooms, a separate client room, and a designated handbag area clad in green tiles round out the space’s offerings. Outside, an inviting sitting area is shaded by a pergola covered with climbing flowers. Whitewashed exteriors and terra cotta roof tiles make for a picturesque face to the Loewe boutique.
Marbella Club has also recently acquired the nearby historic estate Finca Ana María, transforming it into a wellness centre. In tandem with the Loewe store opening, a unique pop-up has taken up residency in the gardens of the estate. The Loewe Perfumes Greenhouse carries the design cues of the boutique—like the green tiles and herringbone floors—into a traditional Victorian greenhouse. Teeming with plants, the simple white structure allows shoppers to experience the brand’s nature-inspired Botanical Rainbow line and its Home Scents, intended to capture a garden’s essence.
