Shinji Sets a New Standard for Toronto Steakhouses

Steakhouse fever has taken over Toronto’s Financial District. With what seems to be a new ribeye and red wine restaurant opening every other week, there is no shortage of locations to test the limits of expense accounts. But for those who want to test their taste buds too, Shinji, located in the Bay Adelaide Centre, is the neighbourhood’s most exciting opening in years.

Helmed by chef Jia Zou, the modern Japanese steakhouse combines the delicacy of omakase with the sheer hedonism of a steakhouse. Whether at the grillside bar or in one of the angular booths of the Odami-designed space, a meal here will transport you from Toronto to Tokyo and back again.
