T.Line Founders Britt Barkwell and Alia Bissett Are Redefining Heritage Shirting
The new classics.
With their label T.Line, Canadians Britt Barkwell and Alia Bissett are creating button-up shirts that practically style themselves. Their customers are “women that are multifaceted,” Barkwell says. “From work to picking up their kids to school events—how do we make that easy?”
When they launched their brand in 2022, the friends and former Holt Renfrew colleagues set out to answer that question. The core of their offerings is shirts that are lovingly named after the women in their lives. The label has also grown to include bottoms, outerwear, and knitwear. This year, they’re trading seasonal collections for monthly product drops.

Barkwell and Bissett take pride in their ongoing dialogue with their clientele, at their downtown Toronto retail space or chatting with them online. Their move to release new pieces monthly was motivated by the way women shop today. “Customers are really shopping for what they need at the present time and aren’t necessarily looking forward too much,” Bissett says. “We’ll always be anchored by the shirt, and introduce pieces that help our women wear our shirts.” For spring, that means shirts in new colours and chambray items that make layering, well, easy.
