The Balvenie Honours the Art of Whisky Making

With the limited-edition A Gift Shaped by the Seasons collection, The Balvenie pays homage to a most important brushstroke: time.

The Balvenie

For The Balvenie, whisky is art. At the distillery, its processes are “crafts”; its Speyside home, inspiration; and each bottle of whisky, its own masterpiece. But with the art of whisky making, no creative force is as powerful as time—its ability to coax out delicious and distinctive but oft-fleeting flavours is paramount to any good bottle of single malt.

For its recently announced collaboration with American Chinese illustrator Victo Ngai—A Gift Shaped by the Seasons—The Balvenie celebrates the art of whisky making, and how time, represented by the seasons, is just as important an ingredient is barley or water. “The Balvenie has always been deeply rooted in the art of whisky making. A blend of science and creativity. These charming and atmospheric special editions by Victo Ngai are the perfect visual example of the craft beyond the bottle,” says Jamie Johnson, Canadian national brand ambassador for The Balvenie.

With the Cask Finish collection as her canvas, Ngai has crafted five limited-edition package designs that celebrate the barrels in which The Balvenie whisky rests as time makes its mark on it. Honouring the brand’s innovative cask-finishing approach, in which two types of barrels are used to mature the liquid, each design features two tree trunks woven together, with their rings representing the age statement on the bottle.

Select expressions from The Balvenie A Gift Shaped by the Seasons collection will be available in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec from June 2026.
