Serge Ibaka might be famous for playing centre for the Toronto Raptors, but off the court his reach is just as wide. The six-foot-nine Congolese-born basketball player has made a name for himself as a fashion and lifestyle icon. With his distinctly sharp sense of style—even with a broken ankle—Ibaka has been turning all sorts of heads, including Canadian outerwear brand Nobis, who has just named the player as their global ambassador. Launched in 2007 and named after the Latin word for “Us”, Nobis has made waves in the winter fashion scene over the last decade with their functional-yet-fashionable outerwear made with the ever-changing winter climate in mind. Editorial collaborations between the brand and Ibaka will be rolled out throughout the year, starting off with the latest campaign for Nobis’ Kane Utility Parka and Martin Parka photographed by Justin Wu and filmed by PIQUE Toronto.

Ibaka modeling for Nobis is another stunning addition to the recent success of basketball players as models. In addition to this, his cooking show How Hungry Are You? has received attention of late due to Ibaka’s charm, the interaction with other celebrities, and his selection of creative and diverse dishes.
