Louis Vuitton Just Gave the Porsche 911 an Haute Couture Makeover
In collaboration with Singer, Nicolas Ghesquière transforms two iconic Porsche 911s into rolling expressions of luxury, complete with custom fashion and luggage.
When conversations began between Singer, renowned for its bespoke Porsche restorations, and Louis Vuitton artistic director of Women’s Collections Nicolas Ghesquière, the idea was simple: a dashboard clock. What was ultimately conceived, however, proved far grander than the initial ask, charting a new avenue for Louis Vuitton and a new fit for Porsche. In the end, the union of these two iconic luxury houses yielded a pair of Porsche 911s―the Classic and Classic Turbo―reimagined by Singer. Together, they give luxury a storied new meaning on the road.
The first, a Classic Porsche 911, is clad in Louis Vuitton’s archival saffron shade, a complementary cobalt blue, and Singer’s Bahama Yellow, a hue associated with some of the brand’s earliest commissions. With a custom roof rack, a Tambour-inspired dashboard, and savoir-faire-driven finishes, the coupé is a dapper study in pristine attention to detail and cross-disciplinary collaboration. At its heart is a return to the original conversation: a Tambour-inspired mechanical timepiece that detaches from the dashboard to serve as a desk clock.
Its counterpart, the Classic Turbo Porsche 911, is a cabriolet reimagined in ivory white, with rich, teak-inspired accents. The car is the brainchild of Ghesquière, bringing his vision of a harmonious marriage between nautical and automotive design to life. “Automotive design is a passion that has always lived within me,” says Ghesquière. “My collaboration with Singer has been a chance to reconnect with this fascinating world – a magnificent opportunity to explore truly exceptional automobiles.”
Just as the car calls for thoughtful dressing, so does its driver. Each of the automotive pair is complemented by its own fashionable capsule, encompassing clothing and accessories tailored to every excursion’s driving dress code: a racing jacket, a made-to-measure suit, the perfect driving shoe, a wristwatch, driving gloves, and a sleek jet helmet. But that’s not all. As a house lauded for its timeless travel trunks, Louis Vuitton’s travel-centric collection would be incomplete without a selection of its own luggage. Space is never an issue―each collection’s bags and trunks are custom-fitted to nest perfectly within their corresponding car.
