Charles Leclerc’s New Whisky Laps the Competition
Made in collaboration with Chivas Regal, the Monégasque F1 star’s whisky pays homage to the number 16.
While he may not have topped the podium at this year’s Montreal Grand Prix, F1 superstar Charles Leclerc surely took the title for best whisky. In collaboration with Chivas Regal, the storied blended scotch whisky brand, the Monégasque driver made the Canadian debut of his 16-year-old whisky just ahead of F1’s takeover at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Crafted with help from Chivas Regal master blender Sandy Hyslop, the limited-edition whisky combines 16 exceptional malts to form a blend that is as fine-tuned to Leclerc’s specifications as the Ferrari SF-26 that he drives.

The number of malts and age statement of the first 16-year-old expression in Chivas Regal’s 117-year history is the same number that Leclerc’s car is emblazoned with, which is itself taken from the driver’s October 16 birthday. “Sixteen has always been more than a number to me—it’s something I’ve carried my whole career,” Leclerc says. “Going to Scotland, seeing the distilleries, understanding the obsession behind every cask inspired me to create my own blend. Chivas Regal and I share the same belief that the standard you set today is just the starting point.”
Chivas Regal 16 Limited Edition is now available at select retailers across Canada.
