The countdown to Chinese New Year is on and, like clockwork, watch companies have released special edition timepieces in honour of the zodiac. Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Ulysse Nardin’s Year of the Rooster timepiece is a standout among them.
Ulysee Nardin is one of the few watch manufacturers still creating pieces with the centuries-old champlevé technique—a delicate process in which a design is chiseled into a dial, filled with enamel, and then fired until it melts and adheres to the dial. The result in this case is a stunning 18-karat rose gold watch featuring an elegant, classical depiction of the confident cockerel.
Those who wish to celebrate Chinese New Year with the appropriate wristwear had better move fast—this design is a special edition with only 88 pieces available.
