Inspired by found sketches of a bespoke comb created for his great-grandfather, Slovakia-based designer Tomas Veres endeavoured to create a product of equal quality, launching an eponymous line of grooming products last year. His collection, the Pantheon, consists of Italian-handcrafted combs of solid silver, rose gold, or yellow gold, encased in plush ostrich leather sleeves. Detailing is available; perhaps finish with a flourish of personalized engraving to accompany the etched serial number which marks each comb’s place in a limited-edition release. To note: price points for these pieces—689 euros ($965 Canadian) for the silver; 9,000 euros ($12,600 Canadian) for either of the 14-karat golds—make these pieces dear, though they’re certainly not overtly flashy. It’s the enigmatic simplicity of the Tomas Veres comb, with its history-steeped design—grooming quality without distracting glitz.
