Louis Vuitton’s Fashion Eye Series

A travelling lens.

You can never anticipate what you will discover when travelling, but those who seek beauty will surely find it.

Enter Louis Vuitton’s Fashion Eye, a series of books highlighting a city, region, or country—all through the viewfinder of fashion’s finest photographers. Launched in 2016, the latest Fashion Eye books are New York by Saul Leiter, Berlin by Peter Lindbergh, Monte Carlo by Helmut Newton, Morocco by Vincent van de Wijngaard, and British Columbia by Sølve Sundsbø. The series joined the maison’s established travel literature collections; for 20 years, Louis Vuitton City Guides have hand picked a selection of addresses for global travellers, while the Travel Books are collaborations with artists who visit cities unfamiliar to them. For instance, French illustrator Jean-Philippe Delhomme walked the streets of New York, while American Daniel Arsham discovered Easter Island.

For the Canadian installment of the series, Norwegian photographer Sundsbø delivers a fresh look at British Columbia, filling the 96-page book with craggy peaks shrouded in fog, scenes of starry skies, and the snow-covered slopes of the Columbia mountain range. Sundsbø first visited B.C. 14 years ago and has returned annually for heli-skiing expeditions, pausing every so often atop a snow-capped ridge to take a photo. With Sundsbø’s personal snaps, the fashion world has its eye on British Columbia.
