The Timekeeper

Time travel.

Elusive time flashes past us quickly, but the Timekeeper is a way to make it tangible. “The idea that [time] can become an object or manifest itself physically is appealing, especially in a digital world,” says creator Corinne Quin. Quin decided to develop the idea when she found out she was pregnant with her daughter, creating the Timekeeper to record a significant life moment. The handmade acrylic glass case is embossed with a name and date of the owner’s choosing and overlaid on wood. Each day, a spool of coloured thread winds a single loop of thread onto a brass spindle centrepiece. With each passing day, the spindle’s cocoon of thread becomes larger, creating a growing timeline of the occasion.
