Over 80 participating countries will flood the city of canals with art for the 55th Venice Biennale, which highlights contemporary works by famed international artists. Canada’s national delegate this year is Toronto artist Shary Boyle, who created a multimedia installation for the Canada Pavilion, Music for Silence, curated by the National Gallery of Canada.

Voulez-vous coucher avec Droog? The Amsterdam hotelier will take up residency in Paris with a pop-up suite in Merci, a boutique in the Haut Marais. From June 4 to 15, Parisians will be able to experience Droog’s unique accommodations without leaving the city; guests with reservations check-in after hours, but must check-out by 9:00 a.m., when the “hotel” opens to the public.

For 10 days in June, Luminato puts a spotlight on the arts; the annual festival fills Toronto’s stages and streets with music, theatre, dance, visual arts, literature, and film. Not to be missed: The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic, a performance piece featuring the artist herself. Joni Mitchell will also make an appearance at the festival, participating in an on-stage interview on June 16 with bandleader Brian Blade and The New York Times chief pop music critic Jon Pareles.
Christian Louboutin at Design Exchange

In celebration of the launch of a new exhibition, Toronto’s Design Exchange is inviting guests to step into the world of Christian Louboutin, June 20. The retrospective, which debuted at London’s Design Museum last year, features over 250 of the designer’s iconic shoes, along with sketches, personal artifacts, and recreations of Louboutin’s Paris studio. In situ for the event: Christian Louboutin himself.
